How to beat Walmart security

Walmart is severe in the fight against shoplifting, but they can never get it right. The management considers new techs and inventions almost always, though. So, when you understand Walmart’s security system, it becomes easier to cheat their security.

How does Walmart security work? There are door towers at Walmart, but they are not always unplugged in.

Besides, it not all Walmart items that have RFID chip to aid tracking. The only problem now is knowing what items are tagged or whether the towers are active. And when it rings, you can’t shoplift any item or get embarrassed.

Walmart also has people greeters whose responsibility is to check your activities. They typically wear similar vests as people greeters, but they can check receipts. They may not apprehend you if they catch you shoplifting but will report to the guards.

Another security measure by Walmart is the rotating cameras with zoom functionalities positioned across the store. The cameras can be anywhere, beginning from the entrance, but definitely not everywhere in the store.

At a typical Walmart, you will find the security office behind the entrance tracking activities with the cameras.

When they find you shoplifting, at least one guard will apprehend you when you are leaving. They will not restrain you, though, except they are confident you shoplifted an item.

Note that Walmart will inform their local stores about you when you’re caught lifting. They may ban you temporarily or prevent you from ever accessing their store.

In essence, Walmart is security-studded, and you must expect to learn these setbacks to beat the security systems, shoplift an item and get away with it.

How to Beat Walmart Security

What makes Walmart detectors go off

A shoplifter at Walmart

To beat Walmart security is not so easy. But when you apply the right steps, you can be sure to get away with any small-sized item at the Walmart store.

Meanwhile, below are the steps regarding how to beat Walmart security:

  1. Inspect a Local Store

To beat Walmart security, take a time out to inspect your targeted store. Also, do not target Walmart stores closer to your location; go a few miles away for the shoplifting operation.

  1. Stay Out of Sight

Yes, you want to remain out of sight to lift items on Walmart. Officials, including the fake greeters, would be looking at you, and you must make sure to escape from their sight.

First, you want to earn their trust to keep them from being suspicious. Also, note that some of the shoppers are unreal; they are hired to detect shoplifters and would apprehend you immediately.

  1. Avoid the Cameras

During the first inspection day, do not shoplift at Walmart; walk around and try to tell where there are cameras.

Walmart reportedly uses facial recognition technology, and you do not want them to suspect that you want to steal.

How do you beat the cameras? Watch out for the ceiling black orbs and pick a position that conceals the camera view. Do not look directly at the camera, except you are OK inviting the security team to watch you lift an expensive or cheap item.

Meanwhile, while blocking the cam view, reach for the item you want to steal.

  1. Find Out What Items are Tagged

If you must be sophisticated when lifting from Walmart, you may need a tag detector to find what items have tags on them. If you’re going to steal a tagged item, then you’ll have to break the tag to disable the signal.

  1. Stay Cool

The biggest challenge is keeping cool when shoplifting at Walmart and beating their security.

If you remain unsuspicious, no official will reach you, and you must act fast because spending a long time is a red flag.

When you feel too tensed to lift an item, fiddle with your smartphone, you can look up memes or chat up with a random friend to entertain yourself temporarily.

  1. Get Closer to Target Item

Before you shoplift at Walmart, decide what item to lift. You do not want to decide while at the store; otherwise, you will get caught up looking confused.

So, what do you want to lift at Walmart while beating the security? You can go for HDMI cables or just any package you can rip easily.

  1. Target Smaller Items

It is critical to target small-sized items. Bigger items such as TVs are difficult to away with.

But if you are determined to shoplift bigger items, I advise you to shoplift at a smaller store, but you should read my tips to shoplift expensive items at stores.

  1. Prepare Some Tools

You should get adjustable belt, umbrella, or newspaper, depending on what you plan to lift at Walmart.

With a newspaper, you can shoplift CDs, HDMI cable, and many other small-sized items. You can also wear a hoody, but security officials automatically see you as a thief.

If you have an umbrella, you must hold the tip down until you exit Walmart. You should support the umbrella with an attachment that grips and prevents it from loosening. When you drop items such as a wristwatch and necklace, the umbrella does not flip open.

If you are using an adjustable belt, you can tighten it to hold your shoplifted item. An officer will likely search your pocket and will not find the item, especially if it small-sized.

  1. Remove Metal Stripe

Suppose you are lifting a wristwatch; its magnetic strip will set off alarms at the exits. So, you do not want to approach the entrance with it.

How do you go about it? When you handle your targeted item, go to the restroom. At the restroom, you can get rid of the metal strip to cut off the signal. If you are shoplifting a CD, you will typically find the stripe at the plastic region.

While in the restroom, do not feel too secured. Make sure nobody is nearby, and be vigilant with everyone staring at you.

Once you rip the magnetic strip, place your stolen item in your tool. It could be an adjustable belt, newspaper, umbrella, etc. Pockets are typically suspicious; you do not want to place a stolen Walmart item in your pocket.

  1. Cheat the Self-Checkout

Alternatively, you can cheat the self-checkout. First, get two items and scan them. While everyone is paying attention, scan one of the items for everyone to hear the beep sound.

If you are caught, pretend that you had a difficult time with the scanner. You will also lie to the Walmart employee that you did not realize the second item was not scanned.

Since you are willing to pay for it, they will allow you to go. The only disadvantage with self-checkout is that you must arrive at Walmart with enough cash to buy an item when you get caught.

Walmart Security Measures to Look for

How do you get past a sensor at Walmart

This section reveals the security measures Walmart puts in place to fight shoplifting. Below are Walmart security measures to look out for:

  • RFID Tags

Walmart installs hidden RFID tags that set off alarms at the entrance/exits. When you shoplift a tagged item, it will set off alarms at the exit because the salesperson has not deactivated the RFID tags.

To avoid being apprehended at the exit, get rid of the tag on the item. If you can access the restroom with the stolen item, you can break the magnetic strip; thus, keeping the alarms from setting off when you approach the exit.

Nonetheless, Walmart’s RFID systems malfunction. I had experienced many occasions when legitimate customers were wrongfully apprehended despite the tag being disabled.

  • Loss Prevention/Asset Protection Associate

Walmart stations asset protection associates, but they are typically not top-quality officials.

Most of the time, this personnel wear clothes suitable for staying inside instead of going out of the store.

How do you detect an asset protection associate? The fellow without an item or a cart is likely a protection associate. Also, you will find them hanging around the barren areas susceptible to shoplifting. Cameras in such areas can’t capture much, and they will position themselves there.

  • CCTV System

I have accessed Walmart’s back office, despite not being a staff member, thanks to my friend, a Walmart loss prevention official.

Walmart uses many closed-circuit cameras across every store. Most of the closed-circuit cams focus on the cash registers, while some others focus on high theft level areas of the store. So, the only way to shoplift is to back the cameras and rip a package immediately.

What Happens When You’re Caught Stealing in Walmart?

What happens when you are caught stealing in Walmart depends on the security official that catches you. If an aggressive official sees you, everyone in the store will know that you shoplifted. However, a friendlier officer will invite you to their office where the stolen item(s) is recovered.

When you shoplift at Walmart, the item is in inventory, and the final cost is tallied. If the stolen item is worth below $25 and it is your first time shoplifting at Walmart, they will record your ID on their theft database and let you go. Of course, you will be warned sternly to desist from the act across any local Walmart stores.

Depending on the situation, Walmart may suspend your access to their store for up to a year or more. At worse, they may call the police on you, and you will be charged following the stolen item value.

When Walmart lets you go, they will mail you from a collection agency to make specified payments, typically up to $300. You may ignore the letter, though. Besides, only half of the money from hundreds of letters sent by the law office get to Walmart.

Meanwhile, you can successfully get a shoplifting charge dismissed.

Does Walmart keep track of shoplifters?

Yes, Walmart keeps track of shoplifters. When you are caught shoplifting at Walmart, your arrest/ID is recorded in the court records database. Walmart invests lots of money to secure their merchandise, and they record every incident in their stores. When you have an outstanding theft record with Walmart, it applies in all local Walmart stores. So, if you steal from another Walmart store branch, your case is repeated theft.

Final Thoughts

When you arrive at any Walmart store, make sure to feign the trust of employees. Nonetheless, understand that Walmart employees see customers are potential thieves and would be aggressive when serving you.

Walmart typically employs aggressive hospitality. So, every loss prevention associate is conscious of customers within the store.

Remember that there could be a camera next to you, and you must not stare sheepishly at it.

Finally, a loss prevention associate may only apprehend and will not confront if he catches you shoplifting.
